On the morning that I captured this image, I woke up to an outside temperature of 42 degrees. Not bitter cold really, but when you've been basking in the glow of warm summer mornings, that first autumn chill can be a bit of a shock. I knew the lake would be misty in response to the cold morning air - I had my sights set on capturing the beauty of a solitary white pine on the shoreline. All the ingredients came together for me that morning - golden reflected light, a fine mist on the water, chilly blue colors in the sky, and that stately white pine towering above it all. Worth the shiver, definitely worth the shiver.
